Travel Health Clinic
Travelling overseas can be one of life’s most rewarding experiences but it’s important to be well prepared to stay healthy along the way.
Before You Travel
Visit us 6–12 weeks before departure so your body has time to build immunity. Your vaccination needs depend on factors like age, health, vaccination history, destination, and length of stay. Our doctors will assess your travel plans, review your immunisation record, and recommend necessary vaccines or boosters.
Many diseases overseas are preventable. Common vaccines include:
- Hepatitis A and Typhoid common in parts of Asia, Africa, and South America
- Yellow Fever – required for travel to certain countries (we are an accredited centre)
- Japanese Encephalitis – for extended rural stays in Asia or the Torres Strait
- Meningococcal, Rabies, and Tuberculosis (BCG) – for specific destinations or higher-risk travellers
We also ensure your routine vaccinations (MMR, DTP, Polio, Influenza, etc.) are up to date before travel.
Even with vaccination, practising safe habits is vital to avoid illness while overseas.
Our team will provide practical advice on:
- Food and water safety
- Insect and mosquito bite prevention
- Managing existing health conditions abroad
- When and how to seek medical care while travelling
During Your Travels
When You Return
If you feel unwell after your trip even weeks later it’s important to see a doctor and mention your recent travel history. Some infections can take time to develop and may mimic common illnesses.
Plan Ahead for a Healthy Trip
