Can’t make it into the clinic? Our GPs offer telehealth appointments by phone or video, so you can get medical advice, prescriptions, referrals and follow-ups from home or work. It’s a convenient option for many everyday health needs – and bulk billed for eligible Medicare patients.

Telehealth lets you speak with one of our GPs without travelling to the clinic – helpful if you’re unwell, busy, caring for others, or live further away. We offer appointments by phone and video, and your GP will let you know if you need to be seen in person.
What you can use telehealth for
Telehealth is well suited to many appointments, including:
- Repeat prescriptions and medication reviews
- Discussing test and pathology results
- Referrals to specialists
- Mental health support and care plan reviews
- Follow-up appointments
- Medical certificates
- General medical advice and minor concerns
When you'll need to come into the clinic
Some appointments need a physical examination or a procedure, and are best done in person for example:
- Skin checks and skin procedures
- Vaccinations and injections
- Examinations, wound care and minor surgery
- Anything your GP feels needs to be seen in person
If you book telehealth and your GP decides you need to be examined, we’ll arrange for you to come in.
Am I eligible for a Medicare telehealth appointment?
To receive a Medicare-rebated (bulk-billed) telehealth appointment, you generally need an established clinical relationship with our practice – meaning you’ve had a face-to-face appointment with us in the previous 12 months.
Some patients are exempt from this requirement, including:
- Children under 12 months of age
- People experiencing homelessness
- Patients receiving an urgent after-hours service
- Patients of an Aboriginal Medical Service or Aboriginal Community Controlled Health service
- Blood-borne virus, sexual or reproductive health consultations
- Pregnancy support counselling (under the relevant MBS items)

How telehealth works
- Book online or call reception, and choose telehealth (phone or video).
- Confirm your details and preferred contact method.
- Your appointment — your GP calls you at the booked time to discuss your concern.
- Next steps — prescriptions, referrals or results are arranged, and we’ll book you in if you need to be seen.
Frequently asked questions
Is telehealth bulk billed?
For eligible Medicare patients with an established relationship with our practice, telehealth appointments are bulk billed. Eligibility rules are set by the Australian Government – reception can confirm whether you’re eligible before your appointment.
Do I need to have seen the doctor before?
Usually, yes – to claim Medicare for telehealth you generally need to have had a face-to-face appointment with our practice in the last 12 months. Some patients are exempt. Call reception on 07 5510 9222 if you’re unsure.
Can I get a prescription through telehealth?
Yes. Your GP can issue prescriptions during a telehealth appointment where appropriate, and send your script electronically. Some medications still require an in-person review – your GP will let you know.

What if I need to be examined?
If your GP decides your concern needs a physical examination or a procedure, we’ll arrange for you to come into the clinic. Telehealth is best for advice, prescriptions, referrals, results and follow-ups.
